Where Octolens is stronger
- Platform list. The pricing page lists LinkedIn, TikTok, GitHub, Stack Overflow and YouTube. Scale adds news, podcasts and reviews.
- Tagging. Each mention gets a relevance rating, a sentiment and a tag. Prebuilt feeds cover brand, competitor and buy intent.
- Seats and workspaces. Pro has unlimited seats. Enterprise has multiple workspaces.
- Included delivery. Every plan includes webhooks and developer access.
Where Syften is stronger
- Price. The entry plan costs a fraction of Octolens Pro, and PRO at $119.95 still comes in below it.
- Community and forum reach. Its FAQ names Indie Hackers, Product Hunt, Lobste.rs, Slack communities, Mastodon and the open web.
- Control. You write the filter queries and accept rules yourself, and you can search an archive.
- Agency tags. You can tag filters per client.
- A buying-intent page. It describes finding recommendation requests, alternatives and complaints, and says it shows what someone said instead of a score.
Pick Octolens if... pick Syften if...
Octolens fits if you need LinkedIn or GitHub, want sentiment and a tagged feed for a marketing or DevRel team, and can spend $159 to $599 a month. Syften fits if you want to stay under $120 a month, spend most of your time in communities and forums, and don't mind writing filters. Syften charges extra for X monitoring.
Where HearBuyers fits
Both tools hand you mentions to sort. HearBuyers covers only X and Reddit. It scores each post from 0 to 100 for buying intent, highlights the sentence that shows the need, and drafts a reply that a person approves. It suits teams who want a short list of buyers instead of a feed. See the Octolens alternative and Syften alternative pages.
Next step: list the three feeds you act on and check which tool covers them at the lowest tier.
