HearBuyers vs Syften: community monitoring or buyer matching?
updated 18 October 2026 · facts about other products checked 17 October 2026 from their own pages
Syften fits better if you want keyword monitoring across a wide set of communities and forums at a low monthly price. HearBuyers fits better if you want a ranked list of people on X and Reddit who are asking for what you sell, with a reply drafted for each. Syften shows you what people said, and HearBuyers also tells you how close they are to buying.
Facts about Syften come from its home page and its buying-intent page, checked on 17 October 2026.

Where Syften is stronger
- Breadth. It reads a long list of sources: forums, Slack communities, newsletters, podcasts, Mastodon, Hacker News and more. HearBuyers reads two networks.
- Price at the low end. The Entry plan costs $29.95 a month for three community filters.
- Speed. Syften says it aims to deliver Reddit alerts in under a minute, and X alerts take 15 minutes at most.
- Control. You write the filters and the accept rules yourself, and you can search an archive.
- Agencies. You can tag filters per client.
Where HearBuyers is stronger
- Intent as the point. Syften's own page says it shows what someone said rather than an unexplained score, which is a fair design choice. HearBuyers does the opposite: every post gets a score plus a one-line reason, so a team can set a bar.
- Drafted replies. Each strong match comes with a reply a person can edit, approve and post.
- A team workflow. A shared inbox with stages (new, reviewing, approved, replied, won, not a fit, dismissed) and team invites.
- No filter writing. You can get started without writing queries or rules.
How to choose
Pick Syften if you need many sources, fine control over queries, or the lowest price for keyword monitoring. Pick HearBuyers if you want fewer matches on X and Reddit, each scored and with a drafted reply. If you need both a wide net and a buyer list, you can run the two side by side, since they do different jobs.
How to switch
- Copy the Syften filters that cover problems and recommendation requests, leaving out brand names.
- Sign up for HearBuyers and paste your website.
- Check the search phrases it suggests and add any of your filters that are missing.
- Add competitors and the subreddits your Syften filters pointed at.
- Send alerts to the same Slack channel and set your score threshold.
The longer write-up is on the Syften alternative page. The other tools are on the compare page. Paste your website into HearBuyers and read the first scan.
