How to get web design clients: find people already asking

checked 18 October 2026 · 38 requests found in 100 posts judged

The warmest clients for a web designer are people who already posted that they need one. You aren't convincing anyone they have a problem. You're answering a request they already made.

In a scan of public posts checked on 2026-10-18, covering Reddit posts from the last 12 months and X posts from the last 30 days, we judged 100 posts and found 38 people asking for a web designer. The biggest single source was X (8 requests), then r/forhire (7), r/hiringpakistan (2), r/webdesign (2), and r/DesignJobs (1).

95Worth answering

I am looking for a web designer to create clean, modern landing pages and interface layouts. I need someone who can improve user experience and create visuals that fit our brand. The role is paid hourly and requires strong design skills and reliability.

Why: Actively hiring a designer for defined design work.

98Worth answering

I am hiring an experienced e commerce web designer for a design only storefront project. I need polished desktop and mobile designs, a design system, and developer ready files. Please send examples of relevant work and your rates.

Why: Seeking a designer now with clear project requirements.

5Looks like a lead, isn't

I have worked in web and print design for many years but still struggle to get a consistent flow of clients. I need advice on whether to keep focusing on design and how to make lead generation more predictable. I am also looking for useful business or marketing book recommendations.

Why: Seeking career advice, not looking to hire a designer.

What a request worth answering looks like

  • The person sounds ready to hire soon and mentions a timeline or deadline.
  • They describe the website they need, the type of business, or the scope of work.
  • They give budget hints, ask about pricing, or discuss costs.
  • They ask for recommendations, referrals, or direct help finding a web designer. Skip vague discussions that only ask for opinions or general advice.
Bar chart of requests by community: r/forhire 7, r/hiringpakistan 2, r/webdesign 2, r/DesignJobs 1, r/Jobs4Bitcoins 1.

How to reply without getting removed

  • Start by answering the question or offering useful advice.
  • Say you are a web designer when it is relevant.
  • Keep your reply on the request instead of posting a sales pitch.
  • Do not include links unless the person asks for them or the community allows them.
  • Follow each community's rules before posting or sending messages.
30 of 38 requests were on Reddit and 8 on X.

A 20-minute weekly routine

  1. Check the communities where requests appear and look for new posts.
  2. Read each post carefully and pick out people who seem ready to hire.
  3. Write a short reply that helps first and then explains how you can help.
  4. Follow up with people who respond and keep track of conversations.

Web design lead generation, from public requests

Lead generation for web designers usually means buying lists or running outbound. Public requests work the other way round: the buyer writes first. Of the 100 posts we judged, 38 were people asking for a web designer, and the most came from r/forhire. That is a short, warm list you can answer yourself, and HearBuyers reads for it every day. How these numbers compare with other niches is in where B2B buyers ask for help.
