Where B2B buyers ask for help in public

updated 18 October 2026

Almost every public request for help we found was on Reddit. Across 19 service niches we judged 1,875 public posts and found 568 people asking to hire or buy: 544 on Reddit and 24 on X. In these niches, B2B buyers ask for help in a handful of large communities, and the biggest single source is a hiring subreddit, not an industry one.

In a town square, a researcher maps streams of paper airplanes arriving from different streets into two collection baskets.

How we collected it

For each niche we searched Reddit over the last 12 months and X over the last 30 days for the phrases buyers use when they ask for that service ("looking for a bookkeeper", "need a copywriter"). A model then kept only real requests and threw out job seekers, vendors and general discussion. We checked what was left for sensitive personal details and dropped any post that had them. The scans ran between 16 and 18 October 2026. Nothing here names or links to a person.

The data has two limits. The numbers describe what our searches found in a fixed window, not the whole of Reddit or X. X is also searched over a shorter window and returns far fewer requests per scan, so the Reddit-heavy split partly comes from how we collected the data. Treat it as a pointer to where to look first, not as a market-share figure.

Requests by niche

Requests per 100 judged is the share of judged posts that turned out to be real requests. A higher number means that niche's phrases pulled in cleaner results, not that the niche has more buyers.

Where the requests were

These communities produced the most requests across all niches. The last column counts how many niches each one appeared in, which separates a broad hiring community from one that serves a single trade.

What this means for sellers

  • Start with the hiring and small-business communities. The two largest sources were a hiring subreddit and a small-business subreddit, and both showed up across many niches.
  • Read each community's rules before you reply. Hiring communities often require a set reply format or ban unsolicited offers. The subreddit rules lookup explains the rules in plain words.
  • Watch Reddit first and X second. In these niches, buyers asked on Reddit far more often than on X. Reddit monitoring covers the first and X keyword alerts the second.
  • Each find-clients page lists the communities, phrasings and scored examples for one niche. Use the page for yours.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cover all of Reddit?

No. It covers what our searches returned for specific phrases over a fixed window. Reddit is also changing how outside tools can read its public data from 31 October 2026, so these numbers may be harder to reproduce later.

Can I use these numbers in my own article?

Yes, as long as you link back to this page and include the scan dates.

How often will this update?

We rescan the niches periodically, and every page shows its scan date.
