Buying intent scorer

updated 17 October 2026

Paste a public post or a single sentence, and optionally say what you sell. The scorer tells you how close the writer is to buying: a score from 0 to 100, a label, a one-line reason and the exact sentence that shows the intent. HearBuyers makes the same kind of judgment on every post it reads.

How the score works

ScoreLabelWhat it usually looks like
90 to 100Ready to buyAsking for a vendor or recommendation, with urgency, budget or a date
70 to 89Actively lookingComparing options or describing a problem they want solved now
40 to 69InterestedFrustrated or curious, no clear plan to act
Under 40Not a buyerJob posts, students, vendors promoting, jokes, general chat

By default, HearBuyers drafts a reply for posts scoring 70 or above. You can move that threshold. To draft one yourself for a post that scores well, use the AI reply generator.

Samples to try

  • "Our CRM renewal is in March and nobody likes it. What did you move to?"
  • "Hiring an SDR, must know HubSpot."
  • "Anyone know a bookkeeper who understands Shopify payouts? Ours quit."

What it can't tell you

The score is based on the words in the post. It knows nothing about the person beyond them, so it can't see a budget that wasn't mentioned, and it will miss sarcasm now and then. Treat 70 as "worth a human look", not "will buy".

Frequently asked questions

What is buying intent?

How likely someone is to buy soon, judged from what they say or do. In public posts it shows up as requests, comparisons, deadlines and talk of switching. The buying signals guide has 20 scored examples.
