Exclude vendors and job posts from X search

updated 17 October 2026

Search for buying phrases and you mostly get job ads, giveaways, affiliate links and vendors promoting themselves. This recipe adds exclusions that strip out most of them: -hiring -job -apply -giveaway -affiliate -promo, no reposts, and no posts with links (vendors almost always include one).

When to loosen it

Some real buyers share a link to show what's broken. If the results look too thin, allow links again and keep the word exclusions.

What filters can't do

Exclusions catch the obvious noise. They can't tell a buyer from someone asking a hypothetical question. HearBuyers makes that call by scoring every post for buying intent and sending you only the strong ones. Try it on a single post with the buying intent scorer.

Where this fits

These exclusions work with any query in our X search operators guide. To check whether a post that gets through the filter is a real buyer, paste it into the buying intent scorer.
