The Reddit monitoring tools Redditors actually use (2026)

updated 1 November 2026 · facts about other products checked 1 November 2026 from their own pages

We sell a tool in this category, so read this page knowing that. HearBuyers is left out of the list below and gets its own box at the end.

F5Bot, a free keyword alert service, is the Reddit monitoring tool people on Reddit name most. We read 13 threads where someone asked how to monitor Reddit, and 24 of the 147 commenters mentioned it. Next came Google Alerts, Reddit Pro, Syften and plain saved Reddit searches. Expect most alerts to be noise whichever you pick. We tracked 10 everyday keywords for one week: 16% of the matches read as someone ready to buy, and people selling something wrote 27%.

How we research Reddit explains how we read threads, count mentions and leave out vendors.

In a workshop, a researcher stands beside a row of simple birdhouses while small birds carry pebbles into different trays; a funnel beneath the trays catches only a few smooth stones, suggesting useful signals separated from chatter.

What redditors use

We read 13 threads from the past year in which people asked how to monitor Reddit for keywords, brand mentions or leads. They came from communities including r/AskMarketing, r/b2bmarketing, r/SaaS, r/automation and r/SocialMediaMarketing. A script counted how many different commenters named each tool, and we left out 18 commenters who were promoting their own product. Some sellers don't disclose that, so read the counts as a rough guide.

One or two commenters also named KWatch, Brand24, Subreddit Signals, Octolens, Awario, Redreach and Brandwatch. Others mentioned automation tools such as Zapier and n8n, which people use to pipe alerts into Slack or a spreadsheet.

Two patterns show up. Most of the tools named are free, because most of the people asking are founders or small teams. The threads are also full of sellers: one r/SaaS post was titled "Is it me or is almost everyone creating a reddit keywords tracker/marketing/relevant threads tracker?" (thread).

How much of a keyword alert is noise? Our test

Noise is the complaint that comes up most in these threads. "Every time I try to monitor Reddit keywords seriously, I end up drowning in alerts that aren't actually relevant," wrote u/Emotional_Piccolo870 in r/AskMarketing (thread). We measured it.

On 1 November 2026 we picked 10 keywords a seller might track and pulled a week of Reddit posts and comments containing each one, the way a basic keyword alert would. We scored every match from 0 to 100 for buying intent, using the same rubric as our free buying intent scorer, and flagged matches written by someone promoting their own product.

For every buyer a plain keyword alert finds, it sends you about five posts that aren't buyers. On some keywords, such as "web designer" and "social media scheduler", most of what you'd see is other sellers advertising. A model did the scoring, so treat the shares as estimates. The sample was capped at 25 posts and 15 comments per keyword.

Social listening on Reddit

Reddit social listening means tracking what people say about your brand, your competitors and your problem space across subreddits, which covers more than catching leads. It's set up the same way as monitoring. Pick the communities first, then track three lists of phrases: your brand and product names, your competitors' names, and the problems you solve in the buyer's words. Read the results weekly and look for patterns. Reddit's own Reddit Pro handles brand tracking for businesses, and the tools in the table above cover the rest.

What to look for in a Reddit monitoring tool

People who have tried a few tools tend to want the same things.

  • Filtering that goes past the keyword. Matching a word isn't the same as finding a buyer, so look for a tool that reads each post and tells you why it matched.
  • Communities first. Several replies say a short list of the right subreddits cuts more noise than a long keyword list.
  • Intent over mentions. "brand monitoring is kind of useless early because you barely get mentioned. what's actually worth watching is intent signals," as u/theclydebailey put it in r/microsaas (comment).
  • Honest coverage. No tool reads every post on Reddit, so ask which communities and searches it watches and how fresh the results are. Reddit's rules for public data access are changing between October 2026 and March 2027.
  • Help with the reply. Finding the thread is half the job, and most leads are won or lost in the answer.

If you only need simple alerts, start free. Our Reddit keyword alerts page shows the free setups, and the F5Bot alternative page covers when F5Bot is enough. GummySearch users can see what changed on the GummySearch alternative page.

Where HearBuyers fits (we sell this)

HearBuyers is a scored monitoring tool. You paste your website and it suggests communities, phrases and competitors to watch, which you can edit. It reads matching Reddit posts and comments in the subreddits you pick, plus X, and gives each one a buying-intent score from 0 to 100 along with the sentence that shows the need. Anything above your threshold lands in Slack, a daily email or the team inbox with a drafted reply that a person edits and posts. It never posts on Reddit for you.

It isn't the cheapest option. If all you want is to know when your brand name comes up, a free alert will do. Plans start at $19 a month after a 14-day free trial. Reddit monitoring explains how it works, and pricing lists the plans.

Next step

Pick three keywords your buyers would use and run them through a free alert for a week. Count how many results you would reply to. If it's fewer than one in five, as it was in our test, you need some way to filter them, either by hand or with a tool. To compare, you can try HearBuyers' Reddit monitoring free for 14 days.
