GummySearch alternative: what to use now that it has closed

facts about GummySearch checked on 18 October 2026 from its own pages

GummySearch closed on 30 November 2025. Its own notice says it shut down to comply with Reddit's rules for commercial apps, and new sign-ups are closed. If you used it to find customers on Reddit, you need a replacement that does that one job, and you should know whether the replacement is exposed to the same rules.

HearBuyers covers one of the things GummySearch did: finding people on Reddit and X who are asking for what you sell, and replying to them. It isn't a general audience research tool. This page says where it fits and where it doesn't.

What GummySearch did

GummySearch was a research tool for Reddit. You picked an audience, it found the communities where that audience talks, and it sorted their threads into themes: pain points, solution requests, money talk, hot discussions and people seeking alternatives. You could track keywords and get a notification when a conversation matched. Founders used it to come up with ideas, validate demand, find content topics and find sales leads.

What changed on 30 November 2025

According to the closing notice:

  • New accounts can't be created.
  • Paying subscribers keep access until the end of their billing period, for up to a year.
  • Lifetime deal holders keep access until 30 November 2026.
  • Free accounts can log in only to export or delete their data.

If you still have access, export your audiences, keywords and saved searches now. Lifetime access ends on 30 November 2026.

What Reddit moved to after GummySearch

Most Reddit and X posts about replacing GummySearch come from people launching a replacement, not from users saying what they switched to. In the threads we read on 1 November 2026, posts such as "I made a GummySearch alternative in a week!" in r/SideProject and a Subreddit Signals launch in r/microsaas were builders announcing their own tools. GummySearch's maker also posted on X that "When I shut down access to @gummy_search one of the first things I did was make an alternatives page" (post). Keep in mind who wrote any list of alternatives you read, this one included.

What former users say is more useful than any list:

  • Don't depend on one tool again. An r/SaaS post titled "One lesson I took from the GummySearch shutdown is to NEVER build your research process around one tool" sums up the mood (thread). Keep your keyword lists and community lists in your own files.
  • Free alerts cover the basics. F5Bot, which emails you keyword matches, comes up again and again as the free starting point.
  • Noise is the cost of cheap tools. People who replaced GummySearch's lead finding with keyword alerts describe reading many irrelevant posts. Our own sample of 6,507 recent posts across 41 subreddits (17 and 18 October 2026) found about 5% that read as someone looking to buy or hire.

How we read these threads is on how we research Reddit. For the research side GummySearch covered, our guide to Reddit market research walks through doing it by hand.

What to look for in a replacement

  • The job you used it for. Research and lead finding need different tools, so decide which one you are replacing.
  • Sources beyond Reddit. Reddit's rules for third-party data are tightening, and that is what closed GummySearch. A tool that also reads X gives you a second source if Reddit access narrows.
  • Judgment, not just matches. A keyword match is not a buyer. Look for a tool that tells you how close each person is to buying and why.
  • Help with the reply. Finding the thread is half the work. The other half is answering well without getting removed.
  • Honest coverage. Be wary of any tool that promises every post on Reddit. Ask which communities it reads and how fresh the data is.

Where HearBuyers fits, and where it doesn't

HearBuyers fits if you used GummySearch to find sales leads. You paste your website, and it works out who buys from you, how they describe the problem, which competitors they leave and which communities they ask in. Then it reads X and Reddit, scores each post from 0 to 100 for buying intent, highlights the sentence that shows the need, and drafts a reply. Someone on your team approves the reply and posts it themselves.

It doesn't fit if you used GummySearch for audience research, such as browsing communities, finding startup ideas or reading broad themes across a niche. HearBuyers doesn't do subreddit discovery or market reports.

On Reddit's rules: we read public posts only. If a platform changes what it allows, we update the coverage table on our home page first. X keeps working either way.
