Find people asking for an alternative on X

updated 17 October 2026

This search finds posts where someone asks for an alternative or a replacement. It only returns posts that ask a question, and it leaves out reposts and job ads. Put a competitor's name in "all of these words" and you'll see people trying to leave that product right now.

In a cobbler’s shop, a customer examines a worn shoe while a shelf of fresh designs sits beside it, inviting comparison.

Tune it

  • Add your category instead of a competitor name to catch people who haven't named a tool yet: crm, bookkeeping software.
  • Add -from:competitor style exclusions via "none of these words" if the competitor's own account floods the results.
  • Remove the question filter if you're missing posts phrased as statements, like "looking for an alternative to Tool A."

How to reply

Answer their question first. If two options suit their situation, say so, even when one of them isn't yours. Then say who you are. People asking for alternatives read every reply and remember who helped.

Where this fits

People asking for an alternative are usually leaving a competitor, so this search pairs well with competitor monitoring. Our alternatives pages show what that looks like from the buyer's side.
