Best competitor monitoring tools, compared by what they watch
updated 18 October 2026 · facts about other products checked 18 October 2026 from their own pages
The best competitor monitoring tool depends on what you want to catch. To see when a rival changes a pricing page or ships a feature, use a page-change monitor such as Visualping. To hear what people say about rivals, use a mention tool such as Awario, Syften or Octolens. To find customers who are unhappy with a competitor or asking for an alternative, use a tool that reads community posts and flags the request. Most teams pair one tool from the first group with one from the second or third, since each group catches a different signal.
The list is ordered by fit for a small team that wants to start this month: tools with published, low prices first, enterprise-style quotes last. Facts come from each vendor's own pages, read on 17 or 18 October 2026. Our competitor monitoring page explains how HearBuyers handles it.

Visualping
Visualping watches the web pages you choose and alerts you when they change. It offers visual, text and element change detection, before-and-after screenshots, and AI summaries that flag whether a change matters. Every plan sends alerts to email, webhooks, Telegram and n8n, and Business plans add Slack and Teams. It suits anyone tracking rival pricing, feature or careers pages.
Price (billed monthly, then per month billed annually): Free $0 for 5 pages and 150 checks a month, every 60 minutes. Personal 1K $14 ($10), Personal 5K $35 ($25), Business 20K $140 ($100). The limit: it only watches pages you name. It does not search social networks, so it won't tell you what customers say about a rival. Checked 18 October 2026.
Linkeddit
Linkeddit now positions itself as competitive intelligence for small SaaS teams. Its Compete product writes a weekly graded brief on up to 12 competitors from blogs, changelogs, G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, Trustpilot and public discussion, including Reddit. It also offers Answer Radar, which checks whether AI assistants recommend you, and Presell for switcher pages. It suits a SaaS founder who would rather read a weekly brief than watch a dashboard.
Price: Compete is $99 a month and includes the Pro plan. Pro alone is $29 a month, or $199 once for lifetime. A free account needs no card. The brief is weekly, so it won't alert you the day someone asks about a rival. Checked 17 October 2026. See the Linkeddit alternatives page.
Awario
Awario treats a "topic" as a keyword or group of keywords. A topic can be your brand, a competitor or industry terms, with unlimited keywords in each. Sources include X, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, blogs, forums, news and the web. It suits marketers who want rival mentions next to their own.
Price (monthly, then per month billed annually): Starter $49 ($29) with 3 topics, Pro $149 ($89) with 15 topics, Enterprise $399 ($249) with 100. A free trial needs no card. Each competitor uses up a topic, so Starter's 3 run out fast. Checked 17 October 2026. See Brand24 vs Awario.
Syften
Syften monitors communities for keywords and filters the results with AI. Its buying-intent page describes finding recommendation requests, competitor alternatives and complaints, and says it "shows you what someone said, not an unexplained score". Sources include Reddit, X, Hacker News, Indie Hackers, GitHub, forums and the open web. It suits a founder who reads their own alerts.
Price: Entry $29.95 a month, Standard $49.95, PRO $119.95. X monitoring costs +$40 a month. A 14-day trial on PRO needs no card. You write the filters and accept rules yourself. Checked 17 October 2026. See Octolens vs Syften.
Octolens
Octolens sells AI-filtered mentions of your brand and competitors across Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Hacker News, YouTube, TikTok, GitHub and more. Each mention gets a relevance score, sentiment and tags, and alerts go out through Slack, email and webhooks. It suits developer-tool and SaaS teams.
Pricing: Pro is $199 a month ($159 billed annually), Scale is $599 ($499 annually), and Enterprise is custom. The 7-day trial needs no card. Pro includes 10 keywords and each extra one costs $10, so tracking many rivals gets expensive. Checked 17 October 2026. See the Octolens review.
Mention
Mention's Company plan lists competitor benchmarking, share of voice and influence scoring across social networks, news, blogs, forums and 75+ review sites. A banner on the site says Agorapulse acquired it. It suits teams that buy through a demo.
Price: not listed. The price field was empty when we visited, with a "Get a demo" button, and the page says paying yearly gets 2 months free. Historical data and developer access are paid add-ons. Checked 17 October 2026. See Brand24 vs Mention.
Redreach
Redreach covers Reddit only. Setup asks for your website and top three competitors, and the product lists brand and competitor mention tracking, an AI relevance filter and reply suggestions. You post from your own account. It suits markets that live on Reddit.
Price: Startup $19 a month (3 competitors), Growth $39 (6), Professional $79 (8). Money back within 48 hours of payment. It covers a single platform. Checked 17 October 2026. See HearBuyers vs Redreach.
Subreddit Signals
Subreddit Signals watches the subreddits you pick and ranks matching posts by product fit and buyer intent. Its Pro plan lists Competitor Intelligence, Pain Points Radar and Campaign Automations. It suits founders who already know which communities matter.
Price: Starter $29 a month ($24 billed annually), Pro $59 ($49.17 annually). The 14-day trial needs a card. Its FAQ says it monitors only the subreddits you select, not all of Reddit. Checked 17 October 2026. See HearBuyers vs Subreddit Signals.
Hootsuite
Hootsuite is a social management suite. Its Standard plan lists brand and competitor monitoring with up to 10 social accounts and one inbox. Professional adds unlimited accounts and trend forecasting. It suits social teams that want rival accounts beside their own posting.
Price: its FAQ says paid plans start at $99 per user a month for Standard, $199 for Professional and up to $399 for Advanced, billed annually. A 14-day free trial needs no card. The page showed local currency, so we took the USD figures from its structured data. Checked 17 October 2026. See the Hootsuite pricing guide.
HearBuyers (ours)
HearBuyers watches competitors from the customer's side. Setup infers your competitors from your website, and you can edit them. It reads public posts on X and Reddit, scores each for buying intent from 0 to 100 and highlights the sentence that shows the need, so a post asking for an alternative to a rival can surface as a match. A person approves any reply and posts it.
It will not tell you when a competitor changes a page or publishes a post. Price: free for 14 days with no card, then from $19 a month. Reddit's public data access changes between 31 October 2026 and March 2027, so check coverage. See the X search recipe for alternatives requests.
How to choose
- Name the signal. Page changes, mentions, and customers leaving a rival each need a different tool.
- Count the rivals. Every plan above limits topics, keywords or competitor slots.
- Decide who acts. Slack alerts suit sales. Weekly briefs suit founders.
- Pair one of each. A page watcher plus a community tool covers what rivals do and what people say about them.
Frequently asked questions
What is competitor monitoring?
It means tracking what competitors publish, change and sell, and what customers say about them, so you can respond early.
Is there a free competitor monitoring tool?
Visualping has a Free plan for 5 pages. Awario offers a trial, and Linkeddit offers a free account. Check each page for limits.
Can I monitor competitors on Reddit and X?
Yes. Syften, Octolens, Redreach and Subreddit Signals do this for Reddit, and Syften, Octolens and HearBuyers also read X. See competitive intelligence.
How often should I check competitor changes?
That depends on how fast your market moves. Visualping checks as often as every 60 minutes on Free and every 15 minutes on Personal 1K.
Next step: list your top three rivals, put their pricing pages in a watcher today, and set one community alert for their names plus the word alternative.
