Find people asking for a recommendation on X

updated 17 October 2026

Buyers on X rarely name a product category on its own. They write "any recommendations for…", "what do you all use for…" or "looking for a tool that…". This search catches those phrases and leaves out reposts, job posts and giveaways. You put your category in "all of these words".

In an outdoor market, a traveler holds up an empty basket while several shopkeepers point toward different neatly arranged tools on nearby stalls.

Your search

("any recommendations" OR "can anyone recommend" OR "what do you use for" OR "looking for a tool") -hiring -giveaway lang:en -filter:retweets

X asks you to log in before it shows search results. Save the search in X to run it again later.

Sample result

"What do you all use for invoicing when half your clients pay in EUR? Current setup is a spreadsheet." (sample)

Scored 84 because it's an open request with a specific need (multi-currency), and the workaround they use now isn't working.

Tune it

  • Put your category in "all of these words": invoicing, crm, seo agency.
  • To narrow it, add your buyers' job titles: founder, cfo, head of growth.
  • If most results are other vendors asking rhetorical questions, put the words they tend to use in "none of these words".

How to reply

Recommend one option that fits their situation and say why. If you sell one of the options, say so in the same reply.

Where this fits

A request for recommendations is the clearest kind of buying signal. If you'd rather not run the search by hand every morning, X keyword alerts send you the matches that read as ready to buy.
