r/msp for B2B sellers

249,676 members · rules and posts checked 17 October 2026

r/msp is a community for Managed Service Providers, with 249,676 members. Sellers can take part, but the rules are strict. Vendors may participate, and any product or service promotion has to stay in the Weekly Promo thread. Vendors are expected to say who they are when promoting.

Buyers here often ask for recommendations on MSP software, cybersecurity tools, cloud and infrastructure management, domain management, connectivity, consulting partners, hiring help, contract and renewal support, and even acquisitions of MSP client books. Many requests compare vendors, features and pricing.

At a conference hall, vendors place sample tools inside one designated display case while the rest of the room is reserved for conversation and problem-solving.

Self-promotion: strict

Vendors may participate, but product promotion, service promotion, and webinars must stay inside the Weekly Promo thread. Vendors are expected to identify themselves, and promotional posts outside the designated thread are removed.

What a good reply looks like here

A good reply sticks to the buyer's requirements, offers useful evaluation criteria, stays professional, and doesn't promote anything outside the Weekly Promo thread.

Sample reply: For small customer environments, I would compare the options on detection coverage, identity-provider integrations, response workflows, reporting, deployment effort, and total cost at low seat counts. Since pricing matters a lot here, ask each vendor for examples based on your typical customer size, and check for minimum commitments that can hurt smaller deployments. Before deciding, it also helps to compare how each product handles identity monitoring, alert quality, and investigation workflows.

When to skip r/msp

This community usually isn't worth the effort if you sell general consumer products, residential IT services, or non-IT B2B offerings. It's also a poor fit if your approach depends on promoting products or services openly outside the Weekly Promo thread.
