Social Searcher alternative: from search results to buyers

facts about Social Searcher checked on 17 October 2026 from its own pages

Social Searcher is a free social media search engine. You type a keyword, name or hashtag and it shows matching public posts, with no sign-up. People usually look for a Social Searcher alternative because a search box gives you results but not a list. It saves nothing, sends no alerts, and doesn't tell you which posts come from someone close to buying. HearBuyers does that narrower job on X and Reddit. It scores each post from 0 to 100 for buying intent and drafts a reply for a person to approve.

This page covers what Social Searcher does as of 17 October 2026, who it suits better, and how to move over. Everything about Social Searcher comes from its own pages.

In an archive room, a seeker pulls open many drawers to inspect scattered objects, while a nearby guide uses a magnet to draw a few metal needles into a neat row.

What Social Searcher does

Social Searcher started in 2011 as a personal project. Its About page says it uses embedded Google search to surface publicly available results and does not collect, store or scrape data from social networks. It describes itself as free, unlimited and private, with no registration.

The site has several tools:

  • Social Searcher: public posts and mentions that match a keyword.
  • Users Search: profiles by name or username.
  • Trending Hashtags: hashtags that are rising.
  • Social Listening: a page that presents the same search as a monitoring tool.
  • Google Social Search and an Unofficial Facebook Viewer.

Searches accept an exact phrase in quotes, a minus sign to exclude a word, and OR. Results sort by relevance or date, and each shows a text preview, the author and a link to the original post.

Its pages mention no saved searches, email alerts, team inbox, scoring or reply drafting. Its old pricing page, social-searcher.com/pricing/, returned "Page not found" when we checked, and no paid plan is listed. The FAQ says the tool is completely free.

Who Social Searcher suits better

For a one-off look, Social Searcher is the better choice. Seeing what people say about a name right now, checking a hashtag or finding a profile takes ten seconds and costs nothing. It's also handy for testing a phrase before you build a search around it.

It suits people who don't mind running the search by hand each time. If you do that a few times a month, you probably don't need anything else.

What to look for in a replacement

  • Saved searches that run without you. A search you have to remember to type is a habit, not a system. Look for a tool that keeps your queries and checks them on a schedule.
  • Alerts where your team already works. Slack or email beats a bookmark.
  • A judgment per post. A keyword hit doesn't make someone a buyer. A score plus the exact sentence that shows the need lets you skip most of what a search returns.
  • A reply you can start from. Finding the post is half the work. Check whether the tool helps with the answer, and whether a person stays in control of posting.
  • Honest coverage. A tool built on a search engine only sees what that engine has indexed. One that reads X and Reddit directly sees newer posts.

Where HearBuyers fits, and where it doesn't

HearBuyers fits if you've been running the same searches by hand to find people who need what you sell. Instead of typing queries, you paste your company website. HearBuyers reads it and infers your product summary, buyer roles, the problems those buyers describe in their own words, search phrases, competitors and subreddits. You fix anything it got wrong.

It then reads public X posts and replies and Reddit posts and comments, starting with the last seven days and continuing on a schedule. Each post gets a buying-intent score from 0 to 100, with the sentence that shows the need highlighted and a one-line reason. Matches at or above your threshold (70 by default) get a drafted public reply, plus a DM draft on X. Someone on your team edits, approves, copies and posts it. Nothing goes out on its own. Matches arrive in Slack, a daily email digest and a team inbox with stages.

It doesn't fit if you want a free, no-account search across many networks, profile lookups or a hashtag trend check. HearBuyers reads only X and Reddit, needs an account, and doesn't search arbitrary profiles. It's free for 14 days with no card, then from $19 a month.

The honest case for staying

If you only search occasionally, there's nothing to replace. Social Searcher is free and fast, and a saved-search tool adds setup you won't use. Many teams keep it for quick lookups and add something like HearBuyers once they notice they're running the same query every week.

Moving your searches over

  1. Write down the three or four queries you run most often in Social Searcher.
  2. Sign up for HearBuyers and paste your company website.
  3. Compare its suggested search phrases with your list and add any that are missing.
  4. Add the competitors and subreddits you already watch by hand.
  5. Set your threshold and send alerts to a Slack channel.
