RedditList alternatives: ways to find subreddits and who is asking in them
facts about RedditList checked on 17 October 2026 from its own pages
RedditList is a ranked directory of the top 5,000 subreddits by activity, subscribers and growth. If you're looking for RedditList alternatives, check one thing first. When we loaded the site on 17 October 2026, its HTTPS certificate had expired and it served a static copy saved in July 2019, so the numbers are years old. For current subreddit data, use a live source. If you want to find people in those subreddits who are asking for what you sell, HearBuyers reads Reddit and X, scores each post from 0 to 100 for buying intent and drafts a reply that a person approves.
This page covers what RedditList offers, what we saw on the date above, and what to use for each job.

What RedditList does
RedditList's title reads "Tracking the top 5000 subreddits". It ranks subreddits by recent activity, subscriber count and growth, with separate safe-for-work and adult lists, plus categories, tags and flair. It's free and has no pricing.
What we saw on 17 October 2026
- The HTTPS certificate had expired. It was valid until 7 March 2025, so browsers show a security warning.
- A comment in the HTML says a website copier mirrored the page on 22 July 2019.
- The subscriber counts match that era. AskReddit, for example, showed 23,296,387 subscribers.
So the site today appears to serve a 2019 snapshot rather than live data. We haven't confirmed whether a live version is maintained somewhere else. If you use it for research, check the date on any number you take from it.
Who RedditList suits better
RedditList works for seeing how Reddit communities ranked when that snapshot was taken, or for browsing categories for ideas. It won't tell you what a subreddit is like now.
What to look for in a replacement
- Live numbers. Subscriber counts and activity change quickly. Use a source that shows the date it was checked.
- Rules, not just rankings. Read a subreddit's rules before you post there. A big community with strict self-promotion rules is worse for outreach than a small one that allows it.
- Related communities. A good directory shows neighbors, so one seed subreddit leads you to ten more.
- Where people ask for what you sell. Sorting communities by size says nothing about how many buying conversations happen in them.
Free tools on this site
HearBuyers has free tools for the research side of this job:
- Similar subreddits finds communities related to one you already know.
- Subreddit stats shows current numbers for a subreddit.
- Subreddit rules shows what a community allows before you post.
Our communities index also profiles subreddits by what their members ask for. Subredditstats alternatives covers another stats site whose data stopped, in that case in December 2023.
Where HearBuyers fits, and where it doesn't
HearBuyers isn't a directory. Use it when you already know your market and want to find the people in those subreddits who are asking for what you sell. You paste your company website, and HearBuyers infers your product summary, buyer roles, the problems buyers describe, search phrases, competitors and subreddits. You correct whatever it got wrong. Then it reads public Reddit posts and comments and public X posts and replies, starting with the last seven days.
Each post gets a score from 0 to 100, the sentence that shows the need, and a one-line reason. Matches at or above your threshold (70 by default) get a drafted public reply, plus a DM draft on X. A person edits, approves, copies and posts it. Alerts go to Slack, a daily email digest and a team inbox with stages.
It's the wrong fit if you want a ranking of all subreddits or want to browse communities by size. HearBuyers is free for 14 days with no card, then from $19 a month.
The honest case for staying
If you only want to browse subreddit categories for ideas and don't mind a dated snapshot, RedditList is free. Treat its numbers as history.
